What a weekend for Mullingar Rugby Club with 2 of our youth teams in Cup finals on the same day and to emphasise the consistency of the results this season both the U 13s and U 17s met the same opposition that each team met in the League finals earlier. On those occasions Mullingar`s U 17s were runners up to Navan in the league final and our U 13s beat Gorey in their league final. This time we went one better and came away with two wins and they were two hard fought wins. Mullingar had not won the U 17s Culliton Cup since 1996 and the last time we won the U 13s Mc Gowan Cup was in 1992. Most of the U 17s squad had experienced losing a Cup and League final when they were U 14s and also losing the league final earlier this year to Navan. Last year some of these boys also lost the U 17s league final to Enniscorthy. They have been knocking on the door for a few finals and on Monday they opened the winning door. However what they have shown over those few years was a level of consistency in being at the top section of their respective groups and finally achieving that winning feeling.

Good luck to our U17A’s playing in the Cup Final at 2pm on Monday 7th May in Donnybrook. We need all the supporters as possible to cheer on the lads.

Mullingar Rugby Football Club is based just off the N4 outside Mullingar town. We provide training for all ages groups and have senior male and female teams. With full changing facilites, flood lighting we’re able to provide quality training to our teams. With our full club bar our senior teams have a fantastic social aspect.
