THE MULLINGAR LIONS ROAR TO BE HEARD AT THE RDS ARENA THIS SATURDAY

By PRO

It's a tribute to our magnificent disability rugby squad that they will find themselves in Leinster Rugby HQ this Saturday afternoon at the first European Rugby Champions Cup Pool match for Leinster (vs Montpellier KO 13:00).

Our hard working Tag team have been "preparing  for the occasion, and are super excited" says an also excited team coach Clare O'Brien, "We've played on the hallowed turf at the Aviva Stadium in the past, but this, like every other occasion we grace a big Half Time audience is immensely rewarding for the team, who always step it up to perform on the big stage". Clare who joined the Lions this season has seen the Lions gather pace and the numbers playing almost double recently, so much so, that in Tullamore rugby Club recently we had not one but two sides play in a Blitz tournament. "The standard of rugby is very high but really the fun with this amazing group is most definitely my reward" says Clare who has requested that those of us out in the Club on Saturday Morning (at Minis Training and Youths Matches) to please wish the team the very best prior to their departure form Shay Murtagh Park. So here online we wish the MULLINGAR LIONS the very best and hope you all have a wonderful day and do enjoy the match. #MRCLIONSROAR

After the rain that fell on Saturday night, we were blessed to wake up Sunday to a lovely day for a game of TAG Rugby featuring THE MULLINGAR LIONS

Our Mullingar Lions travelled to Tullamore RFC for the latest in a series of blitz competitions being held throughout the Leinster region featuring many of the disability tag rugby teams now becoming more and more popular in Clubs.

As the Lions have such good numbers, we were fortunate to be able to field two teams.

The Lions have been training every Monday (Afternoons @ 13:30) and their dedication and hard work is finally paying off. We have been working hard on 'go forward ball' and this was evident to see with the Lions scoring numerous tries. Other visitors to Spollenstown included the Westmanstown Wasps, DLSP Eagles, MU Barhall Buffaloes and of course host side the Tullamore Tigers.

We would like to thank our Midlands neighbours Tullamore Rugby Club  for a really wonderful day.

We're so looking forward to our next outing (provisionally- The RDS Arena in October, more on this later) which no doubt will be our next great day out.
