Athy RFC had great ambition and expectations of advancing in Saturday's Leinster Cup Quarter played at the Showgrounds in Athy on Saturday. 

Our Girls also had ambition and never flinched when it came to the crunch. Our intrepid warriors turned defence into attack with a maturity beyond their years and repelled almost everything thrown at them. 

As an example, our Girls, at one point held the ball up on our own line, turned it over, and went the length of the field, in phases, to score under the posts which has now become almost a trademark of this excellent squad. 
Gemma Faulkner was incredible covering at fullback scoring twice, Kara Mulcahy Captained for the first time and scored three try's. Ellie O'Sullivan Sexton kicked 6 from 7 in a 15 -47 victory. 

Mullingar advance to the Semi Final and will be very aware that they need to keep their focus and head on their shoulders as there are no easy games in Cup Rugby. Well played to all the team, coaches and mentors.
