Shay Murtagh Park witnessed a vibrant display of rugby prowess as 37 under-9 boys from Mullingar Rugby Club took to the field this Saturday. Despite challenging weather conditions, these young athletes showcased their growing skills in a riveting youth rugby blitz.

The event, marking the third blitz of the season, was a display of enthusiasm and commitment to the sport among these young boys. Teams from Longford, Birr, and Tullamore joined the local young talents, creating a dynamic and competitive atmosphere.

Throughout the matches, the under-9 boys displayed an impressive range of rugby skills. Essential techniques such as catching, passing, evading, supporting, tackling, rucking, scrummaging, and lineout executions were brilliantly demonstrated, highlighting their substantial progress this season. The dedication of the coaches and the spirited determination of these young players were unmistakably evident.

After the games, players, coaches, and parents were greeted with a generous spread of sandwiches and treats, accompanied by hot beverages, offering a warm and convivial end to the day's activities.
