Mullingar U8’s Kick Off the Season with a Blitz at Tullamore Rugby Club
This Sunday, the 19th of November, marked a significant day for Mullingar Rugby Club's U8 team as they participated in their first blitz of the season. The event was hosted by Tullamore Rugby Club, bringing together a vibrant mix of young talent and enthusiasm.
A total of 32 players, accompanied by their coaches and supporters, embarked on the journey from Mullingar to face off against 14 other teams. These teams hailed from esteemed clubs such as Tullamore, Birr, Roscrea, Longford, Midland Warriors, and West Offaly Lions, making the competition both exciting and challenging.
Despite the aftermath of a night filled with heavy rain, resulting in wet conditions underfoot, the young players were undeterred. The cloudy skies above did little to dampen the spirits of these enthusiastic athletes. Mullingar Rugby Club was well-represented by four teams, each comprising eight players. The teams exhibited remarkable skill and determination, showcasing the techniques and strategies honed during their training sessions. The event was a true testament to their hard work, with plenty of tackling, passing, and scoring of tries, much to the delight of the supporters.
The blitz was not only a display of young talent but also an opportunity for learning and growth. The players, through their engagement in the matches, demonstrated a keen understanding of the game and an admirable team spirit.
Looking ahead, training continues to be a crucial part of the team's journey. Sessions are held every Saturday at 9.50 am at Mullingar Rugby Club. In a welcoming gesture, the club extends an invitation to all new players who wish to join the team. This open call reflects the club's commitment to nurturing young talent and promoting the sport of rugby within the community.
As the season progresses, the Mullingar U8 team looks forward to more such events, where they can continue to develop their skills, foster team spirit, and most importantly, enjoy the game they love.
