This Sunday – in what couldn’t have been scripted at the start of the
season – Mullingar women go to Tullow for their last game of the season
knowing a win will crown them as queens of Leinster, and qualify them to
play AIL rugby next season.
If they do, and they have already beaten Tullow this season, it will be the
first time in 93 years of existence as a club that a team from Mullingar
will play senior rugby.
However, with there being many a slip between cup and lip, head coach Davy
Miller will be quick to remind his charges of the Nightmare in Edenderry
last season when Tullow stole the league trophy from under Mullingar’s nose
on penalties after an unprecedented 0-0 draw.
