U.15 Girl's head to Galway & Katie's hoping for Leinster.

Our U.15 Girls take will take to the road this weekend for their "First Ever" away trip, and the excitement is at an all time high.

This the Girl's are heading to the Galway Corinthians Youth Academy National Youth Rugby Festival. It takes place this Saturday & Sunday 18th & 19th of April. The festival will host Irelands top clubs at Under 15 age groups. There are two competitions running across both days with a Boys & Girls tournament with 16 teams taking part in each catagory which will be made up of 4 teams from each province consisting of 4 groups of 4 teams. It is a round robin tournament on the Saturday with the top 2 teams qualifying for the knockout section and the bottom 2 teams going into the Plate Tournament, and we're going .

The Rugby festival is the largest of its kind ever held in the country and has attracted significant interest from clubs across the provinces. There are currently 800 male and female players signed up together with their coaches, management and almost as many again parents and supporters. We have been drawn against the likes Abbeyfeale, Listowel, Shannon, Portumna and Ballina in our round robin section, and if successful will contest for the AIL Joe Tighe Cup on Sunday.

Katie Heffernan has made the final cut for the U18s Girls Leinster squad Katie is playing for Leinster for her place in the Ireland 7s squad to face Connaught, Munster and Ulster on Saturday in DCU Kick - Off is 11.30, with the last match at 3.30. The Ireland squad will be picked from the blitz. Best of Luck Katie from all in MRFC.
